| Saved | Donald: I was reared in a pastor’s home and experienced all the benefits of a Christian heritage. Despite this Christian environment I was a rebellious teenager and became involved in sin to the extent that I could sneak past my parents’ oversight. God was faithful to the efforts and prayers of my parents and convicted my heart. I came to Christ on a Wednesday afternoon in my room and full repentance was rewarded with full forgiveness. It is truly wonderful to be a child of the King. |
| Bessie: I was saved on June 15, 1975, at the age of 14. Although I was not raised in a Christian home, the Lord was faithful to convict my heart of sin and make me a “new creature in Christ Jesus” upon my repentance and faith in Him. Certainly, “old things passed away and all things became new!” It is a joy and privilege to walk with God. I am enjoying the journey and am looking forward with much anticipation to the end of the race. |

| Calling | Donald: From the beginning of elementary school I was interested in science. At various points in my young life I wanted to be an astronomer, oceanographer, chemist, and biologist. At age 14 I felt a definite calling into missions and the Lord sealed to my heart the combination of missions and science in the form of medicine. This call was a stabilizing factor in my life and gave me direction. |
| Bessie: In high school, at about the age of 16, I felt drawn to the nursing profession. Several years later while I was attending Bible college the Lord gave me a call to the mission field as well. |
