Prayer Requests

Current needs at Evangelistic Faith Missions

(Updated Thursday, June 12, 2008)

SIMO is June 16-27 -- I won't be updating till afterward -- see home page note

Bolivia (New)

Edwin Condori, a young man who has shown much promise for ministry, is in spiritual trouble and needs the Lord's help.

Costa Rica (New)

Francisco & Aury Orozco are leaving in October to take up new responsibilities in Guatemala.  Please help us pray about another Central American couple to take their place in Barrio México, San José.

Cuba (New)

There are preachers in Cuba who believe in holiness and are trying to keep the message alive, and they need our prayers.  Also, we need wisdom about how we might help them in the future.

Dominican Republic (**Update, New)

**The land dispute continues!   The next hearing in this ongoing case is set for June 26.

Josh Anderson, a missions student at Faith Bible School in Mitchell, South Dakota, has arrived in the Dominican Republic to do his internship for the next eight weeks or so.  This is a requirement for his missions studies.

Egypt (**Update, New)

**Thank the Lord for some good offerings that have come in to help Samir Fouad, director of Faith Bible College in Cairo, to purchase the needed medicine for his kidney ailment.  At the same time, pray for Samir's complete healing.

At the recent annual business sessions of Faith Church of Egypt there were many reports of growth -- numerical, financial, and spiritual -- in the local churches.  Four new pastors joined the ranks of the ministry.

El Salvador

The Christian day school in Santa Ana continues to grow, prompting the congregation to look for ways to expand.  It looks like they will be in a building program next year.

Eritrea

In recent weeks the leader of our work in Eritrea made a trip to the southern part of the country.  There he worshiped with our people and baptized ten new believers.  In the midst of great difficulties, God is at work!

Ethiopia  (New)

Fana, the wife of pastor Gherima, died suddenly on June 5 of pneumonia.  She leaves two grown children, a son in high school, and a daughter who directs a youth work for our church in Addis Ababa.

Guatemala (New)

The Bible Institute in Jalapa has 26 students on three levels of study.  Pray for them and for the three professors who are helping train them for the ministry.

Andrew Rickenbach has arrived in Guatemala for his nine-week internship for his missions studies at God's Bible School, Cincinnati, OH.  He will study Spanish in the old city of Antigua for three weeks and then spend six weeks working with his parents and brother in Jalapa.

Honduras (New)

Rex & Hannah McDowell arrived safely in Honduras for several weeks of missionary service in the absence of Daniel and Tiffany Melton.  They will be very busy with work in the clinic, classes for pastors and in the Bible Institute, and marriage seminars.

We are grateful for God's protection for our missionaries in San Luis.  In a recent storm a large tree blew down near one of the missionary homes.  Fortunately, it damaged a shed and did minimal damage to the items stored there, but our people were safe.

Korea

Pastor Kim Yong Yun, retired but still active in his work for the Lord, has written a new tract in Korean and English.  Calling it "Just A Word, "Pastor Kim was distributing it to several schools and seminaries as he sought to spread the holiness message.

USA Hispanic Ministries  (New)

Steven & Kathy Hight plan a visit with the Guatamalan congregation in Trenton, NJ, June 27-29, for special services that weekend, and right after that Glen & Helen Reiff are to give special studies on holiness.

As the Lord blesses this congregation, they are planning to reach out to other Guatemalans in the Stamford, Connecticut, area.

Home Office (New)

Juddie Peyton, former director of EFM, has been in the hospital for the last few weeks because of gall bladder surgery and a blood clot.  He is to be released tomorrow to return to the nursing home.

The current Matching Fund drive is off to a good start, having reached about the halfway point toward the goal.

June begins the camp meeting season, and some of our missionaries and administrators will be in missionary services in a good number of camps during the summer.  Pray that God will bless those efforts.  Pray especially for financial needs to be supplied, needs that are growing because of the high cost of gasoline.

Four new EFM missionaries will be at SIMO (Summer Institute for Missionary Orientation) June 16-27.  Pray that God will help them in this phase of their preparation for their work in other lands.
